# Goals of the workshop

The workshop on Type-Driven Development aims to show how static type
information may be used effectively in the development of computer
programs. Co-located with ICFP, this workshop brings together leading
researchers and practitioners who are using or exploring types as a
means of program development.

We welcome all contributions, both theoretical and practical, on a
range of topics including:

-   dependently typed programming;
-   generic programming;
-   design and implementation of programming languages, exploiting types
    in novel ways;
-   exploiting typed data, data dependent data, or type providers;
-   static and dynamic analyses of typed programs;
-   tools, IDEs, or testing tools exploiting type information;
-   pearls, being elegant, instructive examples of types used in the
    derivation, calculation, or construction of programs.

# Coronavirus Update (2020-5-2)

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, TyDe will be held online alongside ICFP.
We will strive to accommodate authors from all time zones, e.g. by allowing
pre-recorded videos or by spreading out the talks throughout the day,
following the lead of the main conference. Updates will be posted on the
website and sent to all authors of submitted papers as they become available.

# Proceedings and Copyright

We will have formal proceedings, published by the ACM. Accepted
papers will be included in the ACM Digital Library. Authors must grant
ACM publication rights upon acceptance, but may retain copyright if they
wish. Authors are encouraged to publish auxiliary material with their
paper (source code, test data, and so forth). The proceedings will be
freely available for download from the ACM Digital Library from one week
before the start of the conference until two weeks after the conference.

The official publication date is the date the papers are made
available in the ACM Digital Library. This date may be up to two weeks
prior to the first day of the conference. The official publication
date affects the deadline for any patent filings related to published
work.

# Submission details

Submissions should fall into one of two categories:

-   regular research papers (12 pages)
-   extended abstracts (2 pages)

The bibliography will not be counted against the page limits for
either category.

Regular research papers are expected to present novel and interesting
research results, and will be included in the formal
proceedings. Extended abstracts should report work in progress that
the authors would like to present at the workshop. Extended abstracts
will be distributed to workshop attendees but will not be published in
the formal proceedings.

We welcome submissions from PC members (with the exception of the two
co-chairs), but these submissions will be held to a higher standard.

The 22nd International Symposium on
Principles and Practice of Declarative Programming,
[PPDP 2020](http://www.cse.chalmers.se/~abela/ppdp20/),
hosted 8-10 September 2020 by the University of Bologna, Italy.

**Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, PPDP 2020 will take place online.
The submission, review, and publication process is unaffected.
However, short extensions are available on request.**

Scope
-----

The PPDP 2020 symposium brings together researchers from the
declarative programming communities, including those working in the
functional, logic, answer-set, and constraint handling programming
paradigms. The goal is to stimulate research in the use of logical
formalisms and methods for analyzing, performing, specifying, and
reasoning about computations, including mechanisms for concurrency,
security, static analysis, and verification.

Submissions are invited on all topics related to declarative
programming, from principles to practice, from foundations to
applications. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

- Language Design: domain-specific languages; interoperability;
concurrency, parallelism and distribution; modules; functional
languages; reactive languages; languages with objects; languages for
quantum computing; languages inspired by biological and chemical
computation; metaprogramming.

- Declarative languages in artificial intelligence: logic programming;
database languages; knowledge representation languages;
probabilistic languages; differentiable languages.

- Implementations: abstract machines; interpreters; compilation;
compile-time and run-time optimization; memory management.

- Foundations: types; logical frameworks; monads and effects;
semantics.

- Analysis and Transformation: partial evaluation; abstract
interpretation; control flow; data flow; information flow;
termination analysis; resource analysis; type inference and type
checking; verification; validation; debugging; testing.

- Tools and Applications: programming and proof environments;
verification tools; case studies in proof assistants or interactive
theorem provers; certification; novel applications of declarative
programming inside and outside of CS; declarative programming
pearls; practical experience reports and industrial application;
education.

The PC chair will be happy to advise on the appropriateness of a topic.

PPDP will take place 8-10 September 2020 virtually hosted by the
University of Bologna,
Italy, co-organized with the 29th Int'l Symp. on Logic-Based Program
Synthesis and Transformation (LOPSTR 2020) and the
International conference on [Microservices

Submission Categories
---------------------

Submissions can be made in three categories:

- regular Research Papers,
- System Descriptions, and
- Experience Reports.

Submissions of Research Papers must present original research which is
unpublished and not submitted elsewhere. They must not exceed 12 pages
ACM style 2-column (including figures, but excluding bibliography).
Work that already appeared in unpublished or informally
published workshop proceedings may be submitted (please contact the PC
chair in case of questions). Research papers will be judged on
originality, significance, correctness, clarity, and readability.

Submission of System Descriptions must describe a working system whose
description has not been published or submitted elsewhere. They must
not exceed 10 pages and should contain a link to a working
system. System Descriptions must be marked as such at the time of
submission and will be judged on originality, significance,
usefulness, clarity, and readability.

Submissions of Experience Reports are meant to help create a body of
published, refereed, citable evidence where declarative programming
such as functional, logic, answer-set, constraint programming, etc.,
is used in practice. They must not exceed 5 pages **including references**.
Experience Reports must be marked as such at the time
of submission and need not report original research results. They will
be judged on significance, usefulness, clarity, and readability.

Possible topics for an Experience Report include, but are not limited to:

- insights gained from real-world projects using declarative
programming

- comparison of declarative programming with conventional
programming in the context of an industrial project or a
university curriculum

- curricular issues encountered when using declarative programming
in education

- real-world constraints that created special challenges for an
implementation of a declarative language or for declarative
programming in general

- novel use of declarative programming in the classroom

- programming pearl that illustrates a nifty new data structure or
programming technique.

Supplementary material may be provided via a link to an extended
version of the submission (recommended), or in a clearly marked appendix
beyond the above-mentioned page limits. Reviewers are not required to
study extended versions or any material beyond the respective page
limit. Material beyond the page limit will not be included in the
final published version.

Format of a submission
----------------------

For each paper category, you must use the most recent version of the
"Current ACM Master Template" which is available at
<https://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template>. The most
recent version at the time of writing is 1.70. You must use the LaTeX
sigconf proceedings template as the conference organizers are unable
to process final submissions in other formats. In case of problems with
the templates, contact

Authors should note [ACM's statement on author's
rights](http://authors.acm.org/) which apply to final papers.
Submitted papers should meet the requirements of [ACM's plagiarism

Requirements for publication
----------------------------

**Due to the shift to an online event, registration fees will be
decreased to cover only the costs of publication and online event hosting.**
At least one author of each accepted submission will be expected to
register and present the work at the conference. The PC chair may
retract a paper that is not presented. The PC chair may also retract a
paper if complaints about the paper's correctness are raised which
cannot be resolved by the final paper deadline.

Important dates
---------------

The organizers appreciate that potential authors may be
disadvantaged by the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting disruption.
**To encourage submissions, short extensions are available on request.**
To request an extension, please register an abstract before the
abstract deadline and write to the PC chair before the submission
deadline explaining the circumstances and duration of the extension.

=== Objectives and scope ===
In recent years, we have witnessed a proliferation of approaches that integrate several modelling, verification and simulation techniques, facilitating more versatile and efficient analysis of software-intensive systems. These approaches provide powerful support for the analysis of different functional and non-functional properties of the systems, complex interaction of components of different nature as well as validation of diverse aspects of system behaviour. The iFM conference series is a forum for discussing recent research advances in the development of integrated approaches to formal modelling and analysis. The conference covers all aspects of the design of integrated techniques, including language design, verification and validation, automated tool support and the use of such techniques in software engineering practice.

Areas of interest include but are not limited to:
- Formal and semi-formal modelling notations
- Combining formal methods with different simulation and system analysis techniques
- Program verification, model checking, and static analysis
- Theorem proving, decision procedures, SAT/SMT solving
- Runtime analysis, monitoring, and testing
- Program synthesis
- Analysis and synthesis of hybrid, embedded, probabilistic, distributed, or concurrent systems
- Abstraction and refinement
- Model learning and inference
- Approaches to integrating formal methods into software engineering practice

=== Submission guidelines ===

iFM 2020 solicits high quality papers reporting research results and/or experience reports related to the overall theme of formal method integration.

We accept papers in the following categories:

(1) Regular papers (limit 18 pages) on
- original scientific research results
- tools, their foundation and evaluations
- applications of formal methods, including rigorous evaluations

(2) Short papers (limit 8 pages) on
- any subject of interest in the area of formal methods that can be described with sufficient detail within the page limit

Page limits include bibliography. Appendices may be included, which will only be read by a reviewer at their discretion.

Regular and short papers submitted in categories (1) and (2) must be original, unpublished, and not submitted for publication elsewhere. Papers in these two categories will undergo a thorough review process. Submissions will be judged on the basis of significance, relevance, correctness, originality, and clarity.

Submissions must be in PDF format, using the Springer LNCS style files.

Springer requires that authors should consult Springer’s authors’ guidelines (ftp://ftp.springernature.com/cs-proceeding/svproc/guidelines/Springer_Guidelines_for_Authors_of_Proceedings.pdf) and use their proceedings templates, either for LaTeX (ftp://ftp.springernature.com/cs-proceeding/llncs/llncs2e.zip) or for Word (ftp://ftp.springernature.com/cs-proceeding/llnc/word/splnproc1703.zip), for the preparation of their papers. Springer encourages authors to include their ORCIDs (https://goo.gl/hbsa4D) in their papers. After a paper is accepted, the corresponding author of each paper, acting on behalf of all of the authors of that paper, must complete and sign a Consent-to-Publish form. The corresponding author signing the copyright form should match the corresponding author marked on the paper. Once the files have been sent to Springer, changes relating to the authorship of the papers cannot be made.

The conference proceedings will be published in Springer's Lecture Notes in Computer Science series. A special issue of the Formal Aspects of Computing - FAOC journal (https://link.springer.com/journal/165) is planned for extended versions of selected papers from iFM 2020.

All accepted papers must be presented at the conference. Their authors must be prepared to sign a copyright transfer statement. At least one author of each accepted paper must register to the conference by the early registration date, and present the paper. Since iFM 2020 will be a virtual conference, presentations will take place online. The conference organisation will define details and schedule of the virtual event and communicate them to authors.

[Caml-list] Certified Programs and Proofs (CPP) 2021: First Call for Papers

Certified Programs and Proofs (CPP) is an international conference on practical and theoretical topics in all areas that consider formal verification and certification as an essential paradigm for their work. CPP spans areas of computer science, mathematics, logic, and education.

CPP 2021 (https://popl21.sigplan.org/home/CPP-2021) will be held on 18-19 January 2021 and will be co-located with POPL 2021. CPP 2021 is sponsored by ACM SIGPLAN, in cooperation with ACM SIGLOG.

* new languages and tools for certified programming;

* program analysis, program verification, and program synthesis;

* program logics, type systems, and semantics for certified code;

* logics for certifying concurrent and distributed systems;

* mechanized metatheory, formalized programming language semantics, and logical frameworks;

* higher-order logics, dependent type theory, proof theory, logical systems, separation logics, and logics for security;

* verification of correctness and security properties;

* formally verified blockchains and smart contracts;

* certificates for decision procedures, including linear algebra, polynomial systems, SAT, SMT, and unification in algebras of interest;

* certificates for semi-decision procedures, including equality, first-order logic, and higher-order unification;

* certificates for program termination;

* formal models of computation;

* mechanized (un)decidability and computational complexity proofs;

* formally certified methods for induction and coinduction;

* integration of interactive and automated provers;

* logical foundations of proof assistants;

* applications of AI and machine learning to formal certification;

* user interfaces for proof assistants and theorem provers;

* teaching mathematics and computer science with proof assistants.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Prior to the paper submission deadline, the authors should upload their anonymized paper in PDF format through the HotCRP system at

The submissions must be written in English and provide sufficient detail to allow the program committee to assess the merits of the contribution. They must be formatted following the ACM SIGPLAN Proceedings format using the acmart style with the sigplan option, which provides a two-column style, using 10 point font for the main text, and a header for double blind review submission, i.e.,

The submitted papers should not exceed 12 pages, including tables and figures, but excluding bibliography and clearly marked appendices. The papers should be self-contained without the appendices. Shorter papers are welcome and will be given equal consideration. Submissions not conforming to the requirements concerning format and maximum length may be rejected without further consideration.

CPP 2021 will employ a lightweight double-blind reviewing process. To facilitate this, the submissions must adhere to two rules:

(1) author names and institutions must be omitted, and

(2) references to authors' own related work should be in the third person (e.g., not "We build on our previous work ..." but rather "We build on the work of ...").

The purpose of this process is to help the PC and external reviewers come to an initial judgment about the paper without bias, not to make it impossible for them to discover the authors if they were to try. Nothing should be done in the name of anonymity that weakens the submission or makes the job of reviewing it more difficult. In particular, important background references should not be omitted or anonymized. In addition, authors are free to disseminate their ideas or draft versions of their papers as usual. For example, authors may post drafts of their papers on the web or give talks on their research ideas. We encourage the authors to provide any supplementary material that is required to support the claims made in the paper, such as proof scripts or experimental data. This material must be uploaded at submission time, as an archive, not via a URL. Two forms of supplementary material may be submitted:

(1) Anonymous supplementary material is made available to the reviewers before they submit their first-draft reviews.

(2) Non-anonymous supplementary material is made available to the reviewers after they have submitted their first-draft reviews and have learned the identity of the authors.

Please use anonymous supplementary material whenever possible, so that it can be taken into account from the beginning of the reviewing process.

The submitted papers must adhere to the SIGPLAN Republication Policy (https://www.sigplan.org/Resources/Policies/Republication/) and the ACM Policy on Plagiarism (https://www.acm.org/publications/policies/plagiarism). Concurrent submissions to other conferences, journals, workshops with proceedings, or similar forums of publication are not allowed. The PC chairs should be informed of closely related work submitted to a conference or journal in advance of submission. One author of each accepted paper is expected to present it at the (possibly virtual) conference.

PUBLICATION, COPYRIGHT AND OPEN ACCESS

The CPP 2021 proceedings will be published by the ACM, and authors of accepted papers will be required to choose one of the following publication options:

(1) Author retains copyright of the work and grants ACM a non-exclusive permission-to-publish license and, optionally, licenses the work under a Creative Commons license.

(2) Author retains copyright of the work and grants ACM an exclusive permission-to-publish license.

(3) Author transfers copyright of the work to ACM.

For authors who can afford it, we recommend option (1), which will make the paper Gold Open Access, and also encourage such authors to license their work under the CC-BY license. ACM will charge you an article processing fee for this option (currently, US$700), which you have to pay directly with the ACM.

For everyone else, we recommend option (2), which is free and allows you to achieve Green Open Access, by uploading a preprint of your paper to a repository that guarantees permanent archival such as arXiv or HAL. This is anyway a good idea for timely dissemination even if you chose option 1. Ensuring timely dissemination is particularly important for this edition, since, because of the very tight schedule, the official proceedings might not be available in time for CPP.

==== Scope
Symbolic Computation is concerned with the efficient algorithmic determination
of exact solutions to complicated mathematical problems. Satisfiability
Checking has recently started to tackle similar problems but with different
algorithmic and technological solutions.

The two communities share many central interests, but researchers from these
two communities rarely interact. Also, the lack of common or compatible
interfaces for tools is an obstacle to their fruitful combination. Bridges
between the communities in the form of common platforms and road-maps are
necessary to initiate an exchange, and to support and direct their interaction.
The aim of this workshop is to provide an opportunity to discuss, share
knowledge and experience across both communities.

The topics of interest include but are not limited to:

+ Satisfiability Checking for Symbolic Computation
+ Symbolic Computation for Satisfiability Checking
+ Applications relying on both Symbolic Computation and Satisfiability Checking
+ Combination of Symbolic Computation and Satisfiability Checking tools
+ Decision procedures and their embedding into SMT solvers and computer
algebra systems


==== Submission Guidelines
Submissions should be in English, formatted in Springer LNCS style and
submitted via EasyChair using this link:

We invite three types of submissions:
+ NP: Normal papers describing research not published or submitted elsewhere
(with a limit of 15 pages).
+ EA: Extended abstracts may be position papers, description of research
prospects, challenges, projects, ongoing works, or applications relevant
to SC-square (with a limit of 8 pages).
+ PO: Posters

To receive the appropriate level of peer review, please declare the category
of your submission by prefixing the title on the EasyChair form with "NP",
"EA" or "PO" accordingly.

For consistency, all submissions must use the LNCS style. The style files are
here:

We plan to publish the post proceedings of the workshop in digital form either
in EasyChair EPiC series or as a special issue in a journal. Authors may opt
out of this, should they prefer to publish the material elsewhere.

describe their problems, challenges, goals, and expectations for the SC-square
community.
